This elegant pair of original 1930th side tables from a functionalist villa in Brno reflect the clear lines and reduced forms of Bauhaus Modernism. The frames are made of chromed tubular steel, accentuated by chromed steel bands that emphasize the lightness of the construction.

The inset tabletop surfaces are made of black Opaxid glass – a colored architectural glass developed in the 1930s, valued for its mirror-smooth surface and remarkable durability. These qualities made Opaxid a favored material in both functionalist architecture – such as the Baťa department stores – and in Bauhaus-era furniture using chromed steel tubing. Today, it is no longer in production and has become highly sought after by collectors.

This design combines functionality with timeless aesthetics and fits seamlessly into both historic and contemporary interiors. The contrast of steel and glass exemplifies the principles of the Bauhaus era and brings a touch of 1930s avant-garde into any space.
