The offered pair of cantilever tubular steel chairs, designed by Bauhaus architect Mart Stam, originates from a 1930s production by Thonet. Manufactured before World War II under the model name B 43 F by Thonet-Mundus AG, they were also produced under license by Mücke-Melder and Robert Slezak.

These chairs are regarded as a landmark of Bauhaus modernism, being not only the first cantilevered seating but also the first chair to break away from the traditional four-legged design. Experts consider them a pivotal innovation in the history of furniture design.
