Avant-garde floor lamp in the style of 1930s Czechoslovak Functionalism.
The design of this lamp exemplifies the reduced formal language of Czechoslovak Functionalism. The combination of a flat reseda green lacquered base, a curved tubular steel frame and a single opal glass globe creates an almost graphic appearance.
Its characteristic proportions define the design. Decorative elements have been omitted entirely. Instead, clear geometric lines and the deliberate reduction to a few materials determine its character.
The original reseda green finish of the base belongs to the characteristic design elements of the period. Its beautiful colour defines the character of the lamp and further supports its classification within the context of Czechoslovak Functionalism.
Due to its reduced design, original condition and colour scheme, the lamp can be regarded as a collectable object with a distinctly museal character.
