KADEMO is pleased to welcome Kunstprojekte Franzkowiak for an exhibition of works by the painter Christoph Löffler.

For years, Christoph Löffler has focused on a single subject: the portrait. His models come from the worlds of toys and childhood, with children themselves occasionally appearing as subjects.

Against dark backgrounds, strange figures stare directly at us — frontal, symmetrical and intensely present. 
Familiar at first glance, they quickly reveal something unsettling. Humour and unease exist side by side in Löffler’s paintings. Familiar childhood companions become strangely isolated and ambiguous — while a sense of playfulness always remains.
