This bedside cabinet, produced by Thonet around 1930, exemplifies the formal clarity and rational elegance of the Modern Movement. Constructed from chromed tubular steel and a lacquered wooden body, it reflects the Bauhaus ideal of honest materials and harmonious proportions.
Restored in our workshop to museum-level standards, the cabinet presents its authentically re-established original Bauhaus blue colour, revealing the depth and brilliance of the 1930s palette once again.
The cylindrical Bauhaus-style handles underline the geometric vocabulary of early Thonet metal furniture and reinforce the interplay of functionality and understated refinement. The linear silhouette, the clearly defined drawer and cabinet door, and the integration of the chromed tubular frame demonstrate the high design ambition of the Thonet workshops around 1930.
An authentic document of Bauhaus modernism — uniting technical innovation, aesthetic discipline and cultivated colour.
