This rare floor lamp from the 1930s features a clear and balanced composition, shaped from a single arc of chromed tubular steel. The entire structure flows without joints – minimal yet expressive.
Its adjustable shade is made of pale green opal glass, offering soft, atmospheric light. Below, a small circular shelf in original green Opaxid glass adds a functional and poetic element. The translucent material is now rarely found and adds to the lamp’s quiet elegance. This piece exemplifies Central European functionalism beyond rationalist reduction – refined in form, thoughtful in material. A similar model was featured in the educational materials for the “Hej Rup!” exhibition at the Bröhan Museum Berlin, highlighting its relevance in the history of functionalist design.
