Bauhaus wardrobe by Thonet Mundus – 1930s – wood, brown

This wardrobe was designed by John Hageman for Thonet-Mundus – the same John Hageman who managed the construction of Mies van der Rohe’s famous Villa Tugendhat. As both an architect and furniture designer, he created a piece that perfectly reflects the Bauhaus spirit.

What makes this wardrobe truly special is the striking contrast between its materials: the cool elegance of the chrome-plated tubular steel frame meets the warm depth of the stained beechwood. This combination creates a unique interplay of industrial precision and natural warmth, making it both a functional and visually captivating piece.

The wardrobe is in excellent original condition. The stained beechwood panels, polished chrome steel bands, and tubular steel frame have been carefully polished by our workshop, which specializes in Bauhaus furniture restoration, ensuring its timeless charm is preserved.
