This original tubular steel wardrobe was designed and produced by the Czechoslovak company Robert Slezak around 1935. The piece is a prime example of Bauhaus-influenced modernist furniture, combining the clarity of industrial materials with artisanal craftsmanship.
Its construction features a chromed tubular steel frame, flat steel bands, and a veneered wood body with beautifully patterned surfaces. The rounded corners and precisely curved steel legs give the wardrobe a visual lightness, despite its monumental dimensions.
The wardrobe is preserved in excellent original condition, with all surfaces and fittings intact. It is a rare collector’s item from the Bauhaus era, reflecting the synthesis of form and function that defines modernist design.
