Rudolf Vichr Sideboard in 1930s Bauhaus Design – A Timeless Revival
Style: Classical Modernism
Material: Lacquered wood, chrome-plated steel, metal handles
Quantity: 1
Price: 3.800 €
This three-door sideboard is based on a historic workshop design by the Prague furniture manufacturer Rudolf Vichr from the 1930s. The company was known in the interwar period for functional furniture in the style of Classic Modernism – including tubular steel pieces characterized by clarity, innovation, and material honesty.
The model shown here is a new edition, produced in a specialized workshop that has focused for over two decades on the restoration and reproduction of early modernist furniture. The craftsmen involved use traditional materials and methods to achieve a high level of authenticity.
The smooth, grey lacquered front panels create a calm and unified surface, contrasting with the cool brilliance of the chromed steel elements. The body is framed on the sides by highly polished tubular steel, giving the piece a refined, architectural outline.
A defining feature is the set of semicircular metal handles, inspired by avant-garde designs of the 1930s. A subtle black border frames the base and top, visually structuring the piece and emphasizing its horizontal character.
