1930s Bauhaus wardrobes by Thonet in original paint

The pair of Bauhaus wardrobes offered here were designed by John Hagemann in the 1930s for Thonet-Mundus. Hagemann, renowned as the construction manager of Mies van der Rohe’s iconic Villa Tugendhat in Brno, also made significant contributions as a furniture designer.

These cabinets exemplify the Bauhaus principles of functionality and minimalist aesthetics. Featuring a chrome tubular steel frame combined with expertly crafted wooden surfaces, they reflect the timeless elegance and innovative spirit of the era.

A particularly remarkable feature is the original green lacquer finish, which has been preserved for nearly 100 years.
