This wardrobe was produced in the mid-1930s by the Prague manufacturer Rudolf Vichr. During this period the company was among the important producers of tubular steel furniture in Czechoslovakia and contributed significantly to the functional clarity associated with Bauhaus Modernism and Czech Functionalism.
The piece combines a chrome plated tubular steel frame with a lacquered wood body. It remains in its original reseda green finish, a colour that gives the wardrobe its particular appeal. The clearly proportioned doors are accentuated by an avant-garde handle design, adding a subtle sculptural detail to the otherwise restrained construction.
Inside, the wardrobe follows the rational interior organisation typical of the period, with shelves and a hanging rail providing practical storage.
The piece has been carefully polished and technically inspected in our partner workshop. Its original character has been preserved while ensuring that the wardrobe remains fully suitable for everyday use.
