This armchair, model H-275, was designed by Jindřich Halabala around 1934 and produced by the Czechoslovak company UP Závody in Brno. It is one of Halabala’s most distinguished works and reflects the elegant, forward-looking spirit of Czechoslovak Modernism. The frame is made of dark-stained bent beechwood, with wide, sweeping armrests and a sculptural, compact form.

The spring-core upholstery is covered in an original fabric by Professor Antonín Kybal, one of the leading textile designers of the time. The geometric pattern in terracotta and light beige comes from a documented series of Kybal fabrics held by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.

Model H-275 is a well-documented collector’s piece of prewar Czechoslovak design, combining avant-garde aesthetics with artisanal craftsmanship.

A museum-grade piece with documented provenance – a significant example of 1930s Czechoslovak design.
