Original cantilever chairs of model B43, designed by Mart Stam and produced in an early series by Thonet-Mundus around 1930. The design marks the beginning of industrial serial production of a chair without rear legs and represents a fundamental innovation of Bauhaus Modernism.
The chairs retain their original factory finish in Reseda green, a characteristic Thonet colour of the early 1930s. The painted surfaces show age-related wear and partial paint loss, preserving the authentic character of early use. The tubular steel frames feature original chrome plating in exceptionally well-preserved condition. All screw connections are original.
The B 43 is regarded as the most consistent realisation of the cantilever principle. Clear geometry, reduced materials and structural logic define the design, resulting in a chair that appears both rigorous and light.
The offered examples present a coherent overall appearance with a museum-quality presence. They may be used individually or as a group.
