Pair of B43 cantilever chairs after the design by Mart Stam for Thonet-Mundus, produced before World War II in the 1930s.
The B43 is regarded as one of the defining furniture designs of Bauhaus Modernism. Its clear construction of chromed tubular steel and moulded wood combines functional design with timeless proportions.
This pair features a warm orange lacquer finish that brings lightness and vitality to the restrained design. It reflects an important aspect of Classical Modernism, where colour was used naturally and confidently as an integral part of architecture and interior design.
The steam-moulded plywood shells follow the natural contours of the body and still provide remarkable seating comfort today.
The original lacquer finish has been professionally conserved and carefully restored where required.
