Model B43F, produced in the early 1930s by the Thonet-Mundus group, is based on a 1927 design by Mart Stam.
This chair type is regarded as one of the first rear-leg-free cantilever designs, introducing a structural concept that fundamentally influenced modern furniture. The principle of the cantilevered tubular steel frame became a defining element of Bauhaus-era design.
The characteristic frame made of bent, chrome-plated tubular steel provides a subtly resilient seating experience. The seat and back panels, formed under steam from beechwood and finished in black lacquer, create a clear contrast to the metal structure and emphasize the reduced, functional geometry of the design.
This example shows authentic age-related wear and a matured patina, preserving its historical character. The B43F version is defined by its side armrests, offering a more comfort-oriented variation of the cantilever concept.
Despite its slender appearance, the chair is structurally durable and suitable for long-term use in both residential and work environments.
