This set consists of two original cantilever chairs designed by Mart Stam, produced in an early 1930s serial manufacturing by Thonet-Mundus. The models were sold under the designations B43 (without armrests) and B43 F(with armrests). Designed in 1927, the chair became the first serially manufactured cantilever chair without back legs, introducing a structural innovation that profoundly influenced modern furniture design and established the model as a key icon of German Bauhaus design.
The characteristic cantilever frame made of bent, chrome-plated tubular steel provides a subtly resilient seating experience. The steam-bent beechwood seat and backrest in black lacquer create a distinct contrast to the steel structure and underline the clear, linear aesthetics of the design.
Both chairs feature authentic wear and a matured patina, retaining the historic character of the pieces. The B 43 F adds a related typological variation to the set through the presence of side armrests.
Despite their refined and lightweight appearance, the chairs are structurally durable and well suited for long-term daily use in dining or work environments.
Additional chairs of this type are available on request and can be used to extend the set.
