The “Famos 21” cantilever armchair, crafted by the renowned Czechoslovak company Mücke-Melder, is a prime example of Bauhaus design from the 1930s. Its elegant, streamlined frame of chrome-plated tubular steel and ergonomically shaped upholstery combine functionality with timeless aesthetics. The pairing of the cantilevered steel frame with the thoughtfully designed cushioning ensures exceptional seating comfort.
This particular piece was restored from one of our archive originals in close collaboration with a client – including the selection of fabric, fabric orientation, and surface finishes on the armrests. We are pleased to offer such tailored restorations, using both pieces from our collection and, in selected cases, objects already owned by our clients. Every project is guided by exceptional craftsmanship, decades of experience in our partner workshops, and our design expertise with modernist originals.
Originally developed as Mücke-Melder’s independent response to Thonet’s celebrated club chair series – especially the K 411 – the “Famos 21” stands as a design equal in every respect, while maintaining its unique identity.
